Classic Brugge-De Panne: A Snapshot

Origins

Began in 1977, inspired by the IJsboerke cycling team’s connection with Hotel Terlinck in De Panne.

Early Days

Featured a pioneering team time trial, with initial routes between Tielen and De Panne.

Format Evolution

Transitioned from a three-day event to a one-day race, now part of the UCI World Tour.

Key Points in the Final Lap

Key Point 1 – Several narrowing sections on left side

At this location, multiple road narrowings will occur, with constriction on one side. Each section will be secured with banners and protective pillows.

Key Point 2 – Right Turn into Slightly Narrower Road

At this point, a right turn leads into a slightly narrower road, secured with banners and protective pillows.

Key Point 3 – Roundabout Right

At this point, a right turn at the roundabout with a narrowing before the roundabout, secured with banners, protective pillows, and a safety sign.

Key Point 4 – Narrow Road

Narrow road, protected with banners and a safety sign.

Key Point 5 – Concrete Blocks

Concrete Blocks, be careful!

Key Point 6 and 7 – Roundabout with Low Curbs

2 roundabouts with low curbs, secured with a safety sign and protective pillows to enhance visibility and safety.

Key Point 8 – Passing trough Veurne, narrow urban area

Passing through Veurne, narrow urban area. In case of bad weather, this section may be removed for safety reasons.

Key Point 9 – HIGH DANGER! Narrow Road + Traffic Island

Narrow road with a traffic island, high danger. Secured with safety signs, protective pillows, and banners.

Key Point 10 – Narrowing Road with Traffic Island

Narrowing road ahead with a traffic island, secured with safety signs and protective measures.

Key Point 11 – The Final Stretch

Roundabout with a left turn, followed by a narrowing – HOLD LEFT, and a final right turn before the sprint. Each point will be secured with safety signs and protective measures. Based on feedback from last year, the peloton is expected to stretch out and pass through safely.
